Stay Healthy at WorkToronto Trainer TipJune 2011
It can be a large challenge to eat healthy while at work in Toronto. Here we provide 4 top tips to assist you in your quest to avoid the vending machine and stay healthy during the week.
1. Plan leftovers: Seems simple, right? It is! Make sure each night when you cook dinner you double the recipe. For busy Torontonians the mornings are rushed enough without having to make lunch. Place leftovers in a tupperware container the night before and simply take to work the following day. Of course, we recommend your leftovers are from meals that are balanced and that contain at least 1/3 healthy protein. 2. Always have a 1.5 litre bottle of water on your desk: The only way you can truly guarantee you are getting enough water is to measure it! We suggest starting the day with a full bottle of water. Each time you glance at your bottle - take a sip! Make it your goal to finish the bottle before you leave the office. 3. Stash nuts and seeds: Feeling peckiss? Don't head for the vending machine. Instead, keep a mixture of nuts and seeds in your office (and replenish frequently) and have a small handful when you get that urge to purge! 4. 1 piece of 'party' cake per month: We don't want to be complete party poopers so we say 'yes' you can have a piece of cake at that office party. But, one office party per month, which means one piece of cake per month! |
